Verzion There's a Map for that

Vicky Kidby's view
Unless you have been on another planet lately, you will recognise the slogan within this new Verzion ad from the States. It unashamedly mock's Apple's ubiquitous 'There's an App for That' slogan in an effort to undermine the AT&T network's spotty coverage - the main complaint of iPhone users. Verzion is the rival network to AT&T in the States, and has recently teamed up with Google to push the new Android phone, the clear reason they have adopted this approach, as not only is the network being subverted, but the iPhone and App store is indirectly being mocked as well. I love how advertising is so brave and straight-talking in America. This kind of message is not something you would expect to see in the UK. Although they exist, comparison's of this nature would either be much softer, or just simply alluded to. I think it is incredibly refreshing to see some real, brazen competitiveness like this in advertising; it's overall goal of to increase market share and sell a product after all isn't it? And an increase in market share is always at the expense of your competitors. An honest, claws out approach is great to see.
