Twinings Infusions 'Waterfall' ad

The ad begins the same as any other, but soon changes tack from the traditional kitchen environment, to show an artist at his studio. Twinings are an established brand and this is portrayed through their thoughtful approach in this ad. The ad is simplistic with one man, using the many different flavours of Twinings tea to produce an image of a waterfall which coincides nicely with the narrator informing the consumer that all flavours are ‘sourced from nature’. The ad finishes with the tag line, ‘Twinings, Discover the Art of Tea’ this refers directly to the numerous varieties available but also how each flavour can be refined to personal taste in terms of the strength and colour. This talks directly to the consumer as it understands that each person enjoys their tea in a slightly different way and asks then to explore the varieties available. The music and the setting of the advert all make for a successful execution which moves away from the normal cliché and delivers meaning. The use of the numerous boiling kettles subtly sets the scene and keeps the attention of the consumer who is only enlightened to the purpose of the multiple cups and boxes used in the ad right at the end. The advert is warm and calming the exact feelings that Twinings would hope their consumers feel when drinking their tea and is therefore successful in delivering some of their brand values direct to the consumer. It will be interesting to see where Twinings go from this and I hope that they remain creative with their next campaign, by doing so standing out from the numerous amounts of competition within the market and hopefully strengthening their market position.
